Scrubs is a popular television comedy series. The series, created by Bill Lawrence, began airing in 2001. Its plot centers around Dr. John Michael Dorian (known as J.D.) who starts off in the series as a staff intern and eventually becomes an attending physician. Other main characters include J.D.'s best friend Turk who becomes a surgical attending physician, and also the senior attending physician and Residency Director named Dr. Cox who functions as a critical foil for J.D. The show's unique comedic style involves shooting the show as if the audience is looking at the world through J.D.'s eyes by showing his daydreams and using his narration. Most shows finish up with J.D. narrating the story's themes.
